Perks of Flying Business Class

Wasteful or Well-worth it?

So, you’re wondering if business class is really worth it? If you’ve flown economy, you already know how uncomfortable it can be. Business class might have a higher price point, but it is up to you to decide if it is worth it. Let us introduce you to some of the perks of flying business class. Maybe you will reconsider everything you have ever thought about business class.

Faster Security Check

Feel like a VIP with TSA. Business class flyers get their own designated line at airport security. Often this line is significantly shorter, leading to a much quicker process. Not to mention the agents at this line won’t be so overwhelmed, so it may lead to an overall more pleasant experience.

Exclusive Lounge Access

Once you have passed security, you can leisurely make your way to the appropriate lounge. You can have access to lounges offered through your airline, or if you are a member to certain credit cards, you will have exclusive access to their airport lounges just by being a cardholder!

Business class lounges will often allow you to directly board your flight from the lounge. These lounges are never overcrowded and you will not have to hunt down a power outlet. You will be able to find a very comfortable seat with a power source that is likely to be within your reach. There, you will find an abundance of food and drink. A lot of lounges will allow you help yourself as much as you would like. Some even have full bar service! Others allow you to make your own bloody mary just the way you like it.

Be careful not to go overboard at the lounge; plenty of (arguably, better) dining options will be awaiting you onboard.

Complimentary Wining and Dining

Economy flyers often gripe about how airlines used to provide meals on longer flights. Now, plenty of airlines charge hefty fees for a dry sandwich or questionable slop in a flimsy tin. Business class food is another story. Often, airlines will provide a complimentary glass of champagne before the plane ever leaves the ground. It doesn’t end there. Champagne is typically never-ending when you travel business class.

Ask for a food and drink menu. You will be surprised to find a high-end range of food and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Food and beverage service will almost always be available throughout the entirety of your flight. You will be convinced that food just tastes better at 35,000 feet.

Space

The number one complaint economy flyers often have is that there is a lack of space. This is especially bothersome for taller flyers. Seats and legroom in economy seem small to even the shortest of flyers. You can’t help but sympathize for those who are 6 feet or taller! Business class allows you to be able to stretch out and relax. Some airlines even have onboard bars or lounges where you can go to stretch your legs while grabbing a refreshment or snack.

Check with the airline before you book, but plenty of full-business class flights will even allow you to lie down to sleep. No, not against the window or at a 120-degree recline. We’re talking about 180-degree, lie-flat, sleeping — just like at home!

Sleep

With that newfound added space, you will finally be able to get the sleep you truly want. Lie back and get comfortable. If you have a long-haul flight, a good night’s sleep will allow you to pass the time and arrive well-rested. Plan your sleep schedule accordingly so you can fight some of the effects of jet lag. So you have a fluffy pillow, warm blanket, and are lying flat. Still can’t sleep? Business class has some more options to help you get there.

Amenity Kits

As a business class flyer, you will have access to your own personal amenity kit. Every airline has different kits that will also depend on whether you are on a long- or short-haul flight.  Short-haul flights will often provide amenities such as dental kits, eye masks, and earplugs. Long-hauls can include everything aforementioned and much more! Depending on who you fly with you, you could receive engraved pens, spa products, deodorant, socks, and even a full set of pajamas!

Don’t think that quality is sacrificed, either. Many airlines team up with well-known designer brands to create their amenity kits. They do not come in dinky plastics bags that resemble the gift bags you gave at your kid’s last birthday party. They often come in designer-brand reusable bags. Check with the airline you are interested in traveling with to see all they have to offer.
