Salzburg is a very famous vacation destination in Austria. It is the country’s fourth largest city with the most beautiful classic buildings in the world. It is the birthplace of the famous 18th century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and its strong music tradition has been a very rich part of its pop culture. It has more than four thousand festivals annually, one of the reasons why its hotels are very busy all year round with the millions of tourists who participate and celebrate the festivities with the local residents. Tourism is its major industry in Salzburg earning millions and millions of dollars every year.

The tours show tourists the locations in the city where the most beloved musical was shot and the famous residence of the Von Trap Family. Surprisingly, many local residents are still not that aware of the movie as it was made in English and became a blockbuster hit in the United States during its time.

The bustling city is also a shopper’s paradise with thousands of sophisticated shops and boutiques. Te late afternoons are best when spent in cafes such as the well known Sache Café where you can taste the authentic Salzburg Sacher Torte, Salzburg cakes and other delectable dishes. Climate: Summer season from May to September in Salzburg is pleasant and warm but it rains frequently during this season as well. Winter seasons bring plenty of snow with temperatures that can go below the freezing level in the months of December and January and rains are also common during the winter months. Generally, the city has a fairly pleasant temperature all year round. At the end of the month of September, mornings become really chilly as the autumn season sets in.
Transportation: The public transports services in Salzburg are comprehensive that includes efficient railway system including the high speed train, ICE services. It is easy to enter the city through its own Salzburg Airport that also provides flights to other European cities. The main city is serviced by bus and trolleybus systems with over twenty lines.
