Shopping is also an exciting activity in Cologne city with famous shopping centers as the Schildergasse and the eccentrically designed Ehrenstrass. To taste a bit more of the intellectually engaging activity while in the city, beautiful museums are the perfect places such as the Imhoff-Schokoladenmuseum or Chocolate Museum, and the JavaMuseum which showcases contemporary internet based art and the new media. Amazing botanical gardens can also be enjoyed such as the formal park called the Flora und Botanischer Garten Köln and the Forstbotanischer Garten Köln. The names of these places and other places are just too difficult to pronounce (laughs), but this makes your visit even the more exciting because you feel a bit of mystery with every place. Everything just comes as a surprise, actually. Unless you know how to speak their language, then the names of the places will simply tell you what to expect, almost. Climate: The climate in Cologne city is strongly influenced by the Atlantic Ocean and its location in the part of the country's lowland regions. The city has a mild climate and precipitations are usually steady all year round. During winter, the city is considered as one of the warmest places in the country. The number of sunny days in a year is fairly average. Generally, the city has a pleasant climate that brings average rainfall each year, mild winters and warm summer days. Transportation: Cologne, just like any modern city, provides public transport to locals and visitors through railway services with the high speed ICE trains and Deutsche Bahn Intercity. The Thalys speed train also connects the city with Amsterdam, Paris and Brussels. The ICE trains on the other hand connect to other German cities like Berlin and Frankfurt. Buses also frequent the city and suburbs. Bicycles are very common in the city used by locals who go travel from work and home. |
