This week, the highly admirable US budget airline, Southwest, is offering a great fare sale to Sin City… Las Vegas. Southwest flies regularly to and from Las Vegas from many of their other US airports, providing a cheap and very easy connection to the world’s hedonistic paradise. Not only that, but you get a nice flight while you’re at it.
If you’re lucky enough to be from Burbank or Denver, you can get to Vegas for as low as $59 each way, while the most expensive fares top out at $149 from cities like Baltimore, Boston and Ft. Lauderdale. For the full list of cities and fares, click here.
To get the fares, you have to book by October 21 at 11:59 pm Pacific Time (that’s this coming Thursday!) and travel must take place between November 2 and February 16, which is great because it encompasses the Valentine’s Day weekend next February, in case you’d like to get away for a little Vegas-style romance.
As with any sale of this sort, there are a few catches (aka “blackout dates”). These are times when you’re not allowed to travel or when the good fares won’t apply. For this sale, you must be traveling to Vegas on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Sunday, and from Vegas on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday. The blackout dates are November 23-30 (Thanksgiving weekend) and December 16-January 3 (Christmas and New Year time). Otherwise, the good fares are yours!
This sale represents a great advantage if you’re thinking about getting away from the cold dead of winter. Even in the middle of January, Las Vegas will be mild and winter-free, with plenty of sunshine, so you can have a warm and sunny getaway, or just hit the slots and forget about it all for a few days!
