I have often been told that I am a hard person to shop for, mostly because I travel so much (and relocate almost as often!) that people are reluctant to buy me traditional gifts. Odds are, you have a friend that fits this description: someone that just can’t keep their feet on the ground and deigns to keep many personal trinkets. Or perhaps you know someone that really wants to travel but just needs that extra push to get them going. You might even be shopping for an amazing wedding gift.
Enter the travel gift card. Over the past 5 or 6 years, gift cards have become a staple when buying for those folks that are hard to shop for. Many travel companies – most, in fact – have jumped on the bandwagon and are now offering some type of gift card to cater to people shopping for a travel-happy friend. There are travel gift cards for just about every occasion, from airline vouchers to hotel gift cards and even just pre-paid debit cards that make traveling easy, such as the Cash Passport for international travelers.
Finding these gift cards can be a little bit of a pain, but I’ve rounded up a few online resources to help you find and buy the perfect travel gift card for every occasion.
About.com’s Honeymoon/Romantic Travel Guide put together a nice list of the 11 Travel Gift Certificates, which includes gift cards from the likes of Marriott Hotels, the Four Seasons, American Airlines and Travelocity, among others.
American Express offers travel gift certificates that come in denominations of $50, $100 and $500 and can be used to purchase travel packages from American Express’ travel division.
In December 2008, USA Today ran a feature on travel gift cards which featured plenty of very useful links. Among them, GiftCertificates.com is listed as having a large section of gift certificates dedicated to travel, and there are also links to many of the major airlines that offer travel gift cards, as well as hotels, cruises and transport companies offering the same.
Honeyfund is a new concept in wedding registry that has grown in popularity of the past few years. The site offers couples a chance to buck with the traditional wedding registry and, instead, ask their guests to donate cash to be used toward their honeymoon. By creating a Honeyfund, you can itemize your entire honeymoon and guests can claim items that they wish to pay for.
Finally, if in doubt, simply ask your local travel agent about gift certificates or inquire with a particular travel company about the types of gift cards they offer, as odds are, they do offer gift cards.

Hi there. I have been asking my friends about a site identical to this and I could not find it. But this web site was much much better than what I have been looking for, for many years. This site is extraordinary and I love it.
